"Top employer in Berlin 2007"
Award won for excellent health management
During a ceremonial event on 10th December in Berlin, CONTAG wins the competition and the title of "TOP Employer in Berlin 2007" (certificate right). The company won this award for its commitment as an exemplary employee and family-oriented company with outstanding health management.
The jury said: "CONTAG has shown in an exemplary way, that objectives such as satisfied staff and economic success can be efficiently combined with one another" - Dr. Marion Haß, member of the jury and organiser of the competition at Berlins chamber of commerce (IHK).
Overview and facts
- Competition for the title of "TOP employer in Berlin 2007" announced for the second time
- Initiators and jury: IHK (Berlin chamber of commerce), the Berlin Senate's health administration as well as the AOK (health insurance company)
- The jury's objective: To find an employer who shows exemplary commitment to the development, health and motivation of their staff
- The certificate was presented by the patron of the competition, Dr. Eric Schweitzer, president of the IHK Berlin and Dr. Benjamin-Immanuel Hoff, state secretary for health, environment and consumer protection
- Amongst a total of 19 participants, CONTAG won in the category up to 99 employees, competing against four other well-known Berlin companies, amongst others 4flow AG and Semperlux AG.
What was analysed
- Types of organisation which ensure optimum information flow to the employees about important operational decisions - inclusion of opinions / options for employees to influence decisions
- Communications and cooperation structures which support working procedures and counter damaging physical stress to the workforce
- Conditions and jobs which require the skills of the employees and which foster them
- Effectiveness of measures for the protection of health
- Recognition of employees' performance
The result of the competition
With a variety of measures, CONTAG achieved:
- a low rate of illness
- highly motivated employees
- high staff identification with the company objectives
- friendly and social atmosphere
- economic success at the same time
The measures - a company culture that is lived
- Family-oriented human resources policy: Flexible working time model, special leave, parent & child workroom and a relocation service are just examples of treatment of staff which is employee-friendly and family-friendly
- Open communication in the company: Manager's open doors, regular appraisal meetings and information via a notice board all promote transparency and communication.
- Team-building: Shared activities such as spontaneous barbecues, sporting events or even excursions with families e.g. to the Allgäu region, all bring staff closer together.
- Keeping healthy: An especially set up company sport section regularly organises gymnastics in the workplace, sporting events on the company's own beach volleyball arena or table tennis, or even free massages. There are also regular sporting events outside of the company. A fitness room rounds it all off.
